2006 Book 2 1/2

"The Vile Village" by Lemony Snicket

Yes, I had a bit of spare cash and went into Big Dubya and got another Lemon Snicket book. This one sees the Baudelaire orphans being looked after b the citizens of a village, given the Government's new law based on the old axiom "it takes a village to raise a child". OF course, they have man horrible things happen to them, and they don't manage to rescue the triplets (of which there are only two - long story) that Count Olaf has kidnapped (also after their money. Busy man is our Olaf.

Like the other books, this one fair races along, with the smooth flow and occasional laugh-out-loud humour I've come to expect. It is getting a little too easy to predict the flow of the story, although they aren't exactly aimed at 28 year old Creative Writing Masters whose deconstrunctionist bits of their brains never really turn off so I guess Mssr Snicket can be forgiven.

Another enjoyable, quickly-read story

Three and a half ravens out of five.

Greetings, friends!

Long time no speak! Let me just... *cough* *cough*... clear out some of these cobwebs and see if I can remember where I'm up to. Let's see... I owe you two books (one of which, as per normal, I cannae remember), a movie review for Narnia, a "What I Did At My First Big Day Out" report and some general updation and informating. Tha's cool. We can do this.
